Precautions to help prevent abuse of your SMS account
Status.io SMS Security Settings
- Turn on reCAPTCHA for new subscribers in your Status.io account.
- Disable international SMS in your Status.io account if your subscribers are only located in the United States.
- Set the SMS rate limit in your Status.io account. The rate limit setting is in Advanced Settings on the SMS tab in the Status.io Dashboard.
Twilio Account Security
- Create a sub-account in Twilio for use only with your status page.
- Set up email billing alerts in your Twilio account and monitor the emails for notifications.
- Do not enable automatic payments or auto-reload of funds to your Twilio account.
- Restrict calling to international destinations as much as possible. Tune the Geographic Permissions in your Twilio account. SMS Geo-Permissions are controlled for your Twilio account in the Console on the Messaging Geographic Permissions page. Vonage Account Security
- Create a separate Vonage account for use only with your status page.
- Set up email billing alerts in your Vonage account and monitor the emails for notifications.
- Do not enable automatic payments or auto-reload of funds to your Vonage account.
- Restrict calling to international destinations as much as possible. Tune the Geographic Permissions in your Vonage account.
